| Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar |
Our latest outing was to Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar. I have to say that I wasn’t too excited about this one. It just didn’t seem like it would be that much fun. I was SOOOO wrong. It was a blast! As we walked in, we noticed there was a bachelorette party that was about to be seated. The other patrons consisted of business men and women as well as couples. It’s a great place for any kind of group. I can’t wait to go back! The two piano players that were on stage when we got there were sort of quirky and nerdy but cute in a weird kind of way. Their talent on the piano was actually quite remarkable. They had a fun banter going with the crowd and between each other. After about an hour set, they brought out fresh talent for a slightly different twist. Audience participation is encouraged but not forced so there is a lot of interaction with the crowd. Everyone is asked to write requests on a napkin and bring it to them with a little cash incentive. If they don’t like your song, they toss the napkin out and keep your money. LOL! By the end of our evening, the place was packed and many in the crowd were mingling among the other tables. It was just that kind of place. You really felt like a big group of friends hanging out. The excitement here is infectious The music includes songs from John Denver, Brittany Spears, Bon Jovi, old country favorites and even a song from a popular Saturday Night Live short. You may be constantly surprised at what you hear but most likely it’s something you know and feel compelled to sing along with. Pete’s is in the Pavillions at 1201 Fannin, Suite 310 in Houston. Open Wednesday through Saturday. The show starts at 8:00. They only serve drinks, which are moderately priced, so be sure to have dinner before you go. Call 713-337-7383 for reservations, especially on Saturday’s. At Pete’s they like to say “having this much fun should be illegal”! |
